Modern Two-Story ADUAs local suburbs are becoming more popular and dense, and with new state laws for ADUs many homeowners are turning to their own lots to expand. Whether to age in place or rent out for others ADUs are a great option to convert or expand your existing garage. This ADU replaced the existing two-story garage and added 4 feet to the front. It has two bedrooms and two bathrooms in a 765 square feet footprint.

Large ADU with Garage/Roof DeckA couple in Bay Park was interested in removing their garage and shed to create a large 1,200 sf ADU with two separate single car garages and a roof deck. This is the largest you can go for an ADU and takes some planning to make sure you can add a roof deck. The ADU has 3 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms and a full size kitchen and living room. Includes fire sprinkler system.

Modern ADU - Pool/Guest House + OfficeThis ADU is located in University City at the end of a large backyard that looks out north towards UTC and La Jolla. With a beautiful view and next to the newly redone pool, the ADU serves as a guest house, pool house and office space for the owners. It has a small kitchen and full size bathroom. The ceilings are high and the exterior finishes included metal paneling and composite wood panels.

South Park Addition

A family in South Park was in need of more space and a master suite. They added onto the back of the house and opened up their kitchen to thier new office/den. They also added a walk out deck and redid the hallway bathroom.

University City Remodel + KitchenFrom closed-off to wide open. This University City house needed a drastic update given the large views to the surrounding city and beautiful backyard. We designed a space that took down the walls boxing in the first floor and let the kitchen, dining, and living spaces flow into one another — then added
a wall of large sliding doors and a new modern kitchen. |

North Park Garage Conversion ADUA local North Park family wanted to convert their single car garage into a studio ADU/office with bathroom for guests and working from home. The project is only 225 sf but uses the space more efficiently by creating multi-use zones.

Garage Second Story ADUA family with a North Park two car garage wanted to add an ADU on top. This project fits within a 400 sf footprint. It features full kitchen, bedroom, bathroom and laundry room.

La Mesa Entry Addition + RemodelA couple in La Mesa wanted to rework their choppy kitchen and guest room layout to make a kitchen that was easily connected to their rear patio and pool. They also needed to give their house more of a design presence by removing an old entry porch and adding a double height entry addition.

Spanish Dining Room AdditionThis historic Spanish home needed more space for this family to entertain and dine together. Located in the College Area it was built in the 1920s. The addition needed to feel like it was always part of the home and match the surrounding architecture. The result was a dining room addition and an entry porch. A new intricate Spanish-style bay window at the front provided a cohesive look with the existing style of the home.
